Mission Statement

The Literacy Council of Williamson County provides free, specialized tutoring to adults who want to improve their literacy skills.  In addition, the council provides an array of literary programs to enhance and enrich the lives of all ages.

           

 

 

 

                                                                                                                                                

 

 

 

 

 

          Hours are: Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Evenings and Fridays by appointment

Volunteer Tutors to work one on one with small groups or individuals to 
Improve basic math skills and improve basic English Language Skills
Prepare for the GED 

Times are adjustable, days & evenings.
Also looking for tutors for Monday evenings from 4:00pm-7:00pm.  

Mercy Children's Clinic Library
Come in and straighten the children's library. 
Volunteer for a single day, multiple days or an entire week.

 Triple L Book Club Readers (Life, Long, Learning) People who love to read!
Literacy Council sponsors book clubs at Morningside Assisted Living Center and Beacon Point Assisted Living Center.
Readers meet weekly and read literary selections orally and lead discussions with the small group. We would like to start additional Triple L Clubs.
Hours: One day a week. Time: approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours per session.

Donations needed: Pens, pencils, notebook paper, stamps.

Meals on Wheels Collaboration
Meals on Wheels participants who request books are given a book with their meal.

Needed: Large print books of current fiction or large print inspirational books.

Even if you have contacted Rita Dozier at the Literacy Council in the past, please give her a call again. ESOL and GED classes have started for the 2007-2008 school year. Tutors are needed for individualized help.
